Car Boot Sale

What is a "Car Boot" sale? We had to learn more British vocabulary. A car boot is what those from the U.S. would call a car trunk. In England, this type of sale is also known as a brick-a-brack sale.

The Car Boot sale held Saturday looked like what many in the U.S. would call a flea-market. There were rows of booths containing odds and ends of all sorts on sale by different groups and individuals.

The Newcastle Rotary club set up a booth at the Tynemouth Metro Center. Rotarians and their families donated items for the sale. All the profits went to the club's general fund. We will update you later to let you know how much money was raised at this event.
